It seems people are still hooking up amid the coronavirus pandemic, and people are still get robbed too. According to the NYPost, a 33-year-old man looking for love instead got robbed when his Grindr date whipped out a gun during a Midtown meetup, cops said Wednesday.
The hold-up happened on Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton’s Four Points Hotel on 10th Avenue at W. 35th Street, according to police.
The 33-year-old had connected with another man on the online dating app — but when they got to his hotel room, the prospective date pulled out a gun, cops said.
The date pistol-whipped the man, forced him to lay on the bed, face-down and made off with $1,000 in cash, a cellphone and tablet, cops said.
The man was taken to St. Luke’s and treated for the cut to his head.
The manager at the hotel could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
